I am a designer, maker and upholsterer based in Lower Clapton, London. I moved from New York, where I trained as an Interior Designer, to London after accidentally falling in love with a Brit (I married him, it was well worth the one way ticket!). Nobody who knows me and my long-standing obsession for chairs will be surprised that I then fell into upholstery.

I have now set up my own home studio where I restore and upholster furniture both on spec and commissioned by a growing network of clients.

In addition to furniture, I make a range of soft furnishings under the label Hels Banana. This line reflects my love for design and beautiful handcrafted items, and allows me to give a second life to the amazing upholstery fabrics I have access to as cushions, pouches, bags and more.
